I would like to talk about one of my passions, cars, more specifically car racing, in particular Formula 1. Formula 1 is often considered the queen of motorsport, being the most prestigious motor racing championship, and also the most expensive.
What is Formula 1?
Formula 1 is an international car racing championship, which has been taking place for more than 75 years, owned by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and the word “formula” refers to a set of rules that both the drivers and and the team must respect them.
The begining
The first actual car race took place in 1887 from Paris to Versailles, but the success of such an event was not too great, as only one competitor entered.
Later, the races became fun, new for that period, with races taking place regularly, from different important cities to others. In 1906, the first Grand Prix took place, cars with a minimum weight of 1000 kg could participate, otherwise there were too many restrictions.
First official race
In the interwar period, Grand Prix races were organized on all continents, so it became more and more obvious that these races should be brought together under the auspices of a world championship. The plans were stopped by the Second World War, but in 1946 the FIA decided to establish such a world championship. From the 25 Grand Prix organized in 1949, seven were selected – the stages of the first Formula 1 World Championship, organized in 1950. These were: the Great Britain Grand Prix, the Monaco Grand Prix, the United States Grand Prix, the Swiss Grand Prix, Belgian Grand Prix, French Grand Prix and Italian Grand Prix.
A living legend of races
I think we all know the Scuderia Ferrari team, as the easiest to recognize, due to the red color, and the fact that it is one of the oldest teams, but also one of the most prestigious, having many champions, making the team a valuable one .
Short history of Ferrari
Ferrari is a company producing luxury cars, and at the same time designed to have performances comparable even to Formula 1 single-seaters. Ferrari was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 with the aim of entering various amateur racing championships. The team had headquarters and factory in Modena until 1943, then moving it to Maranello. The company also owns a “Fiorano” circuit built in 1972, used for testing its own cars, in the factory area.
Ferrari in Formula 1
Ferrari debuted in 1950 in Formula 1, this season being the first official, held on an organized circuit. The team has the performance of being the only team competing since the world championship began. It is among the few teams that builds absolutely every component of the car, while many other teams prefer to buy, for example, engines, gearboxes, etc. from other companies
Michael Schumacher at Scuderia Ferrari
Probably the most famous driver in history who competed for Scuderia Ferrari is Michael Scuhmacher, being champion 7 times in his entire career, 5 of which with the team from Maranello. He competed for Ferrari between 1996-2006 and won the titles in years: 1994,1995,2000,2001,2002,2003,2004.
Champions of the team
Other champions of the famous team are Alberto Ascari (1952, 1953), Juan Manuel Fangio (1956), Mike Hawthorn (1958), Phill Hill (1961), John Surtees (1964), Niki Lauda (1975, 1977), Jody Scheckter ( 1979) and Kimi Raikkonen (2007).
Ferrari at the moment
Currently the two drivers of the team are Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, both young and talented drivers.
Formula 1 is a very complex sport and I think it deserves everyone’s appreciation, regardless of whether we are fans or not.
Ferrari in the world of gaming
Ferrari is present in almost all successful racing games. Games such as Test Drive, Forza Horizon, Asseto Corsa, Gran Turismo, The Crew, F1 have several models from the Ferrari range, either street or circuit cars, or even Formula 1 cars.
